South Austin Is a Hot Real Estate Market

Austin real estate is doing well. For the most part, we didn’t experience the down market that the rest of the nation experienced the last few years. But what’s really hot in the area right now is South Austin.
We have one agent in our office who is working on her fourth contract for clients searching in that area. They’ve been in multiple offer after multiple offer situation. It can be very competitive in some areas and neighborhoods. It’s simply that hot!
Located south of the river, South Austin is home to an eclectic variety of homes and residents. It’s in close proximity to Purchase Agreement Template Word Auditorium Shores, The Palmer Event Center and Downtown. It mirrors the “Keep Austin Weird” mentality throughout the area.
South Austin’s well-known shopping strip area is called “SoCo” and has a collection of unique and trendy shopping, music and food venues. Residents enjoy the hometown feel with benefits of a large metropolitan area. On the first Thursday of every month, the South Congress Avenue area features a popular shopping event. It’s generally from Barton Springs Road down to Elizabeth Street and is like a big block party for all ages. The stores along South Congress stay open later, some have special sales events and some even give out free refreshments.
St. Edward’s University is also located down South. It has been named one of “America’s Best Colleges” by U.S. News and World Report and is considered to be a top liberal arts university in the country.
Whether you decide to walk or bike the nearby trails or settle into a fine gourmet dinner, buying a home in South Austin can mean just about anything for everyone. The area provides a convenient location to the city while maintaining its unique Austin vibe.
The area is also a quick driving distance from McKinney Falls State Park. This is a local treasure if you’ve never been with more than 700 acres of land. My family and I enjoy visiting state parks throughout Austin and this one is definitely at the top of the list. There’s swimming, hiking, fishing and camping available to visitors.
Popular areas include Belterra, Bouldin Creek, Cherry Creek, Onion Creek, Sendera, Shady Hollow, Travis Heights, Zilker, and Barton Hills. And with the cost of renting Real Estate Agent Salary exceeding the cost of home ownership – especially at these historically low mortgage rates – more and more buyers are looking for homes in South Austin.
